Listen to this touching story from Glenis Acosta, a member of the YWAM Converge team. She did her Discipleship Training School with us in 2016. She did her outreach to India that summer with a variety of ministries, including children’s ministry in slums and leprosy colonies.
English is Glenis’ second language. She became our first Converge intern to Albania where nobody spoke Spanish and only a few spoke English. But that’s when she began to sense God calling her to be a translator. Her story about the children in the orphanage in Albania will touch your heart.
Glenis went on to our second level training, the School of University Ministries & Missions, which took place in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 2017. God gripped her heart with the importance of making the Converge internship opportunities available to the Spanish-speaking world. She and a few other members of that school traveled through much of South America speaking in university communities about Converge and God’s calling for every individual.
Since then, Glenis has been in Colombia finishing her degree and she has formed a team of translators. She and her team, including Maria from Colombia and Carlos from Venezuela, have completed the translation of our websites and they are now translating the entire Converge online course and closed captioning translations of the 50 pre-departure lessons.
This team needs new computers to complete the translation work, and they need to come to South Jersey to help us with the launch of the Spanish version of the Converge platform. Please pray for a release of funding for computers and travel tickets for these amazing co-laborers. If you would like to send a donation to help, please go to https://ywamocnj.org/donate and choose the Tech Force for computers and Missions Fund for their travel expenses. Thank you!
