Discipleship Training Course

The Discipleship Training Course focuses on intimacy with God, radical heart transformation, biblical worldview, and world missions.  The 2017-2018 DTC was held at two South Jersey locations, with the groups coming together periodically for group teachings, local outreaches, and online discussions.

Three teams depart for outreach the second week of March.  As the 2017-2018 Discipleship Training Course draws to a close, we are encouraged to see how God has been working and speaking in our students through speakers and times of prayer and discussion each week.  We’ve covered traditional DTC topics, as well as global-local issues like Human Trafficking and Poverty and have had guests from organizations working in the local community come talk to our students about their work.  Soon, one outreach team will go for a week to Northern Ireland, and the other will remain in South Jersey to partner with ministries working in community development in Atlantic City.  We also have a performing arts team headed to Orlando, planning to incorporate outreach into an existing trip.  Please pray for us as we wrap up the course in the coming weeks and prepare for outreach.

Here are what current DTC students Elijah and Debbie, headed on outreach to Atlantic City and Ireland, respectively, have to say about their experiences:

The DTC wasn’t anything like what I thought. It wasn’t just a class. When I was reading the book “When Helping Hurts,” and thinking about being in missions, I realized I don’t stand a chance in ministry without God. Elijah Trulli

I am thrilled to be part of YWAM’s DTC team. Participating in the weekly meetings, receiving God’s word from inspiring and encouraging leaders, and sharing fellowship and prayer time with fellow believers who are earnestly seeking to reach out in love to others in our own community and beyond, have all blessed me immeasurably. The book “When Helping Hurts” has positively altered my thinking about the scope of short-term missions. Debbie Wilkins
