Discipleship Training School
January 19 – June 14, 2019
What’s the DTS?
The DTS is designed to encourage students in personal character development, cultivating their relationship with God and identifying their unique gifts and callings. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course, preparing the students to evangelize and disciple current and future generations, answering the call to Go into all the world and teach (make disciples of) all nations. (Matthew 28:19).
A typical DTS begins with a 12-week lecture phase where students benefit from regular times of worship and intercession, small group and one-on-one discipleship, and challenging teachings from YWAM and ministry leaders from all over the world. This “lecture phase” is followed by an 8-12 week outreach phase where students serve cross-cultural and apply what they’ve learned in practical, real-world settings.
A different kind of DTS
YWAM Ocean City’s DTS adds an internship component to the typical lecture and outreach phases. DTS students will be given opportunities to learn alongside local community and service-oriented business and ministry leaders working in the South Jersey area. Students will develop leadership, team, life, and work skills and will complete a collaborate project within their chosen internship that serves the community reached by the host organization. The internship and project will be integrated with the lecture phase and local outreaches. Students will also explore their personal sense of calling and may receive some college and career guidance to help them answer the question of “What’s Next?” after DTS.
January 19 – July 7, 2019.
Lecture phase will take place at YWAM Ocean City’s South Jersey location, with internships in the local community. International outreach locations will be announced halfway through
Tuition for the DTS covers room, board, and local travel expenses for the entire 5 month period of the DTS. Additional costs include travel to and from Ocean City, NJ from the student’s home, roundtrip airfare to the international outreach location, international visa fees, and any personal expenses (e.g., toiletries, phone plans, laundry, internet data, etc.). The cost for each student is determined by their nation’s categorization according to the University of the Nations student categories: CATEGORIES OF NATIONS LIST
Category A Nationals: $7,000
Category B Nationals: $5,200
Category C Nationals: $2,800
How can I get involved?
If you have already completed a DTS, you may be interested in joining the YWAM Ocean City team as a DTS School Leader or Staff. We are praying for dynamic individuals with a heart for discipleship and a vision for how students can live and learn as active members of the YWAM Ocean City community while benefiting from the teachings of DTS speakers and international outreach. The DTS Staff will participate in the planning and coordination of the 2019 DTS, including the placement students in small groups, internship assignments, and outreaches during and after the lecture phase. All DTS Staff are expected to go on both the local and the international outreach.
If you are a YWAMer called to make disciples, please reach out through the form below to find out more about joining our team!
