“If you are called to be a missionary, don’t stoop to be a king.” Belinda Chapin shares this life-shaping statement on this episode. Belina, a YWAM missionary to Bosina Herzegovenia, is hosting Converge interns who will work alongside the local church. If you are accepted for this amazing opportunity, you will be sharing with teams and other guests that will come through during your stay. You will be helping conduct workshops and other activities held at the church where you will be staying in a fully furnished apartment. Additional workshops are at the children’s home which is less than 15 minutes walk away. There are various opportunities: -Youth/Child worker internship: working with Belinda on various workshops which they run for youth and children, including health, English, environment, creative, reading/book club, drama. You will work with children that are sponsored from Finland through a sponsorship project as well as children from the local children’s home. They also work with Youth who have grown up in the sponsorship project and are now teenagers having been sponsored since they were 7 or 8 years old. -Adult education internship: helping to teach English and other workshops to adults -Media Internship: helping with our communications: website, video, communications. -Community Development internship: working with poorer families to help realize business ideas, running workshops. Working with the parents of the children who are sponsored and other families. -Church Planting/Evangelism internship: helping to evangelize through building relationships with locals, seeing how a small church plant works, and spending time praying and interceding for the city of Banja Luka. Or a combination of any and all of the above 🙂 Belinda has a small staff, but are involved in many areas, so while they will be able to oversee everything you do, and be there every step of the way with you, there will be a need for a lot of creativity and initiative as well from your side. Belinda will also be able to work with you to tailor the internship to your gifting and abilities. You will be expected to try and learn some of the local language while you are with them as they have found this helps engage with locals who don’t speak the language, but there are many people who speak English and they will also provide translation for you if needed. You will be sharing with teams and other guests that will come through during your stay. There is internet and a TV with some English channels.
