Letting God Take the Wheel

Now, I am not talking about the song “Jesus Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood. I am talking about letting God take control of your life. I know this sounds scary; someone else has control over your life. But He is the best one to do so. He made you, so He knows what’s best.
Honestly, it is difficult to allow someone to tell you what to do. You want to rebel by doing the exact opposite. It is also scary because you don’t know what will happen or when. So you want some control, right? But you can trust God. He knows what is in your heart and the plan He has for you.
This past year, God had me in Australia for a short time. I was there for a communications school with YWAM, and I thought I would be staying there to join staff when I was done with the school. God had something better planned, so I sadly packed my things and went back home.
Once I was back home, I was longing to go back to Australia. I was holding on so tight to the idea of going back that my knuckles were turning white. God was telling me to let it go because He had something better planned. Then, one day I got an email from a YWAM base I never heard of. I read their newsletter, looked at the website, and prayed for them. I was digging my heels in because I knew this was what God had planned.
I had to let go of my plan and embrace God’s. It was hard. I wish that it was an easy process, but if it was, I wouldn’t have learned anything. It is a lesson I have to learn over and over again: God is trustworthy!
If God is trustworthy, why shouldn’t I let God have control of my life? I advise you to let God take the wheel. You will be surprised where He will take you. So, prepare for the ride of your life!
